The research credit options are those approved in the project of the programme by the Council of Higher Education. In general, there are three options:

Dissertation (Professional research or community outreach).

Scientific article (it is a scientific document that has been accepted to be published in a magazine that has been indexed at least at the Scopus database or equivalent).

Examination (evaluation instrument allowing to show the suitability of a person to undertake a profession or to demonstrate its level of professional competency developed).

Please approach your coordinator to clarify what is the modality that corresponds to your programme  or have a look on our webpage:  “repository”

  • Research Credit Work                                                     USD 1 260,00
  • Knowledge Update Plan                                                  USD 1 260,00

According to CES provision, the master degrees that began after the 22nd of March 2016 have to be accepted for the research unit under the third disposition of the regulation of the academic system, which means that the student will only have 12 months to do his or her degree work after completing the master’s normal study period, and not 18 months as currently in force for promotions that began before 22nd of march 2016.

After an academic period, at the end of the normal study period,  the student will have to request an extension of an ordinary academic period to the Director of the Graduate center, this first extension is free. The student shall have the right to request a second extension but it has an extra fee.

The commencement date of the titling unit begins on the day of the last course received from the ordinary academic period. It will never be considered that the time to perform the research credit unit begins at the time of the presentation of its research work. For this reason, it is recommended that the student consider that there are administrative times in the procedures of the profile approval and graduation, which are not grounds for justification to request extension of terms as stated in the law. Therefore, the student’s  thesis oral presentation and graduation must be performed within the maximum period established by law, from 12 to 18 months depending on the case.

The thesis director must have a degree registered at SENESCYT, with an equal or greater level of a master degree and belong to the area of knowledge of the program. In addition, if you are a teacher at the University of the Armed forces – ESPE, you cannot participate in more than three graduate projects simultaneously.

Asking his/her coordinator. If there is an unsatisfactory response,  the student can contact the general coordinator of the graduate programmes, extension 2546.

In this case the student must send the request to the Coordinator or the Graduate Director in order to apply to the Knowledge Update plan (PAC). This PAC has a cost of $1 260, 00. The programme coordinator is responsible for their planning.

Once the PAC has been approved, the student will have 12 additional months to present his or her degree work or apply to an additional examination, as defined by the regulation of the academic regime issued by the Higher Education Council.

In the event that a student does not conclude or does not approve the research credit option after more than 10 years, counted from the last academic period of the program, it will not be able to graduate under the program in the same institution of higher education, nor in any other institution of higher education.

In this case the student may opt for the homologation of studies in a current career or program, only by means of the knowledge validation mechanism established under the regulation of the academic system CES.

By virtue of the above mentioned regulation, if the research credit option has not been completed or approved within the period specified in third general provision, which means, two ordinary academic periods since its graduation, it will be necessary the approval of a update knowledge programme PAC. Therefore, PAC  has the same validity as the deadline for the completion of the research credit work, i.e. two ordinary academic periods. Thus, if a student approved the program, but is not graduated within such periods, the cap shall be taken again, provided that it does not exceed the 10-year period and complies with the provisions of the third general provision mentioned above, which is that “in the event that the student does not conclude or does not approve the research credit chosen for the third time , the student can change to another Institution only once.

The “Complexivo” examination is an “evaluation tool that demonstrates the theoretical-methodological and procedural formation”, which includes two components: written evaluation of 100 multiple-choice questions, which will be evaluated through a virtual classroom and will last two hours. And, the preparation (25 minutes) and exposure of a professional subject (25 minutes), which will be selected by the student in a random way.

You have the right to take a “complexivo” exam, in the following cases:

– It consists of a graduation requirement within the project approved by CES.
– If your master’s degree was approved by the 21st of november 2013 and you place the order within the year after the completion of the studies.
– If you have the PAC approved.

  1. Submit the application to the program coordinator. (The student’s application will consist of whether or not to participate in the non-compulsory course for the “Complexivo” examination)
  2. Approval.
  3. Payment.
  4. Preparation for the exam.

There is no funding option from the University of the Armed Forces Espe, since the payments made by them are those that support financially the execution of both the “Complexivo” examination and the knowledge updating plan.

Those who fail to comply with the academic and/or the economic requirements may not submit the request for the “Complexivo” examination or the Knowledge Update plan, this breach does not interrupt the time established in the regulation of the academic regime so that the student graduate, therefore, it is the responsibility of the student to comply with the requirements established by the University of the Armed Forces Espe.

Those who submit for the “COMPLEXIVO” examination and/or the Knowledge Update plan and do not approve it, he/she will have a second chance (Grace Test) according to the stipulated under the regulation of the academic regime under the same methodology of the reception of the first examination. The cost per student will be $109, 95.

There is no funding option from the University of the Armed Forces Espe to the students, since the payments made by them are those that support financially the execution of both the “Complexivo” examination and the Knowledge Updating Plan.
